Going to try and getting going doing some that myself, especially along the bay trail since it give access to a great deal of variety and is easy for me to get to (I’m just down the road in San Carlos). Thanks for the response!estormshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04247150292904208184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6961914105467755287.post-6751807518783197892017-10-19T19:32:25.517-07:002017-10-19T19:32:25.517-07:00Yes! I have a longstanding eBird account for my general birding (Dorian Anderson), and I, in May, created a separate account for my Bay Area bike birding (DorianAnderson Bike). Checklists generated using the bike account are shared with the more general account, but not vice versa.
Dorian Andersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15916335753403783947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6961914105467755287.post-11337563917306231272017-10-19T19:27:42.441-07:002017-10-19T19:27:42.441-07:00Do you have a separate eBird account for bike sigh...Do you have a separate eBird account for bike sightings? Just curious how you keep track of what you’ve observed on bike versus “typical” means. estormshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04247150292904208184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6961914105467755287.post-80901909910643980322017-10-10T17:20:44.950-07:002017-10-10T17:20:44.950-07:00Yeah, Surlys are so great. San Diego is a great place for bike-birding. I've been wondering when I'd get the chance to chase some asian super-rarity; I was just so surprised that I didn't have to go but a mile from my house!

As for your Big Year idea, just go for it, especially if you don't have much holding you down. That's not to say it isn't worth doing if you work a lot or have a family, just that the logistics will be a bit more challenging - and in some ways more rewarding. If the idea is there, do it. I haven't taken that far a ride yet, but I've done some bike-birding around south San Diego Bay, Cuyamaca State Park, Coronado, and around my neighborhood. I've even thrown my scope in my pannier for a a few spots on Silver Strand. It's a great way to see a lot of spots that aren't easily accessible on foot or car.Marchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13273874328018995028noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6961914105467755287.post-24179356668807826472017-10-10T06:14:31.853-07:002017-10-10T06:14:31.853-07:00What an awesome bike bird. My Allen County, Indiana bike list is currently sitting at 185, and I am kicking around the idea of how an Indiana green big year would work.Greg M.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17589804703249828778noreply@blogger.com
